Again Congress selected Paban Singh Ghatowar as their face in Dibrugarh. People rejected him in last loksabha election and also in the State assembly elections. People wanted to see a new face in the constituency to fight against BJP. The main reason I think for his selection is that he is from Adivasi community and have strong hold in the tea gardens. But his opponent, most probably Rameswar Teli is also from the same community and Assam govt has announced a lot for tea tribes in Assam in recent budget. So in the constituency BJP will be in a advantageous position in comparison to Congress.

After dates were declared all political parties are busy in calculations. Candidate selection is almost done and in one or two days the names will be declared officially. Till now BJP is the strongest party in the state despite the CAB opposition by many organisations including AASU. The party is expected to win in following constituencies- 1. Dibrugarh 2. Tezpur 3. Silchar 4. Nagaon 5. Diphu 6. Guwahati 7. Mangoldoi It's ally BPF will win one constituency and AGP is not in a position to win any seat in the state.
